The merit of signal repeater contains the following compared with the base station:

1. Taking the same covering area into account, the investment of signal repeater will be lower. In the plain area, an outdoor omnidirectional base station has the covering radius of 10km. After the user is getting more and more, the signal repeater can be replaced by the base station. The replaced signal repeater can be placed in the more remote area.

4. The civil engineering and construction of transmission circuit is not needed so the net building is rapid.

2. After the signal repeater has been installed, the noise of more than 3dB will be added to the base station which will worsen the working environment of the base station and decrease the covering radius. Therefore, only two signal repeaters or below can be installed in a sector of a base station.

3. Only the frequency division can be performed to the signal repeater but the code division can not be performed to the signal repeater. A signal repeater will amplify the signal of several base stations or several sectors.

If too many signal repeaters are installed, the phase confusion of short code of base station can be caused and serious pilot frequency pollution will be caused. The optimization work will be difficult and the unnecessary soft switching will be increased.
